"When I called before visiting the bike shop, Sorger asked me how tall I was. "Barely five foot," I said. "Great! We have a barely-five-foot-sized bike here for you to ride," was the reply. Indeed, I couldn't hide my glee pedaling a Velorbis Victoria Classic (called oma, or "grandma," style) around the spacious garage—or potentially beyond, as curious riders are encouraged to test-drive the bikes about town."

Cycleliciousness - Bikes We Like: VELORBIS
VELORBIS in CycleliciousnessLet it be said. We like Velorbis.

They say it best themselves: "We put our heart and soul into all of our bicycles - every component or design feature has been well considered for its functionality, compatibility and overall aesthetic."

What tickles us the most is that the company is new on the bespoke market. VELORBIS was born from the hunt for a desirable bicycle on which to cycle around London as an
alternative to public transport after the London bombings in 2005.

The company immediately embraced the classic, timeless form, as well as adding spice with cheeky modern versions. Above is a fine example of classicism - a "sit up and beg" model called the Victoria Classic.

VELORBIS in Great British Journeys
We know who explored new worlds, conquered mountains and sailed oceans.

But who ‘discovered’ Britain?

VELORBIS in Cycling World Product Report
"I'll ride it to market and take the admiring glances. Admired it was, too, first time out. "What a lovely bike. I'd like one like
that"; "A proper one" (my assumption is that the lady was referring to the machine and not the rider); "Do you a swap for
mine (a purple ATB with additional rust feature) if you like?"; "Bit of style, like it." Granted, when a club run passed by, no
attempt was made to sit on the back. Maybe the audax will wait a while."

London Bicycle Show 2007
VELORBIS at the London Bicycle Show 2007"Also on the Velorbis stand was an all-chromed custom bike, fitted with the Nu-Vinci continuously-variable transmission (we hope to have a different bike fitted with this system in for review shortly). I noticed the strange hook off the side of the carrier rack, which would seemingly prevent the use of panniers. In fact it's designed so that any bag with a handle can be securely carried hanging against the side of the bike"

Cycling TV - News round up - London Bicycle Show
The 2008 product range on display for Velorbis was particularly exciting, the company having created an ultra-prestigious, ultra-old fashioned looking bike design that, whilst featuring top quality components and a comfortably rideable design, definitely makes the leap from city bike to exclusive fashion accessory.

The TIMES - Sit up an take notice
VELORBIS in Times OnlineA company called Velorbis will be exhibiting the latest in its range of “elegant, classic bicycles” at the show. The firm is Danish (the sit-up-and-beg has always been popular in Northern Europe), but its models have Anglophile names, and are described in fogeyish, fascinatingly non-PC language: “Our Victoria, the ladies’ model, takes its curvilinear shape from the subtle, smooth lines of the female form.” While “Church-ill, our classic gents’ model, reflects the sturdy, muscular contours of the male physique . . .”

VELORBIS switches to Euro factories
VELORBIS in BikebizDutch bike specialist Velorbis has moved production for its bikes from the Far East to Germany and Sweden in order to reduce lead times.

Kenneth Boediker, MD of Velorbis, said: "There has been a real resurgence of sit-up-and-beg, Dutch-style bicycles in the market. We have an innovative and flexible organistaion with short timelines from ideas through to action, and we can we can act on our instincts and trends, more so than larger companies"
